ALFREDO LEAHY RAMALHO

HOSPITAL SANTA IZABEL, SALVADOR, BAHIA

Nacido en la ciudad de Penedo, Alagoas, 28 de febrero de 1925.En 1945, se incorporó a la Facultad de Medicina de Bahía, por la que se graduó en Medicina el 14 de diciembre de 1950, teniendo como compañeros de clase Arudy Costa Penna, José Carlos de Souza Alves, Clavier Geilza Batinga, Jorge Fernando Pereira Studart José dos Santos Pereira Filho, María de Lourdes Rocha Santos Burgos, Vital Sarmento Ferreira (Facultad de la Universidad Federal de Bahía), Geraldo Rocha (Estudiante Premio Nobel Prof. Manuel Vitorino Pereira, por haber logrado el mejor promedio general en los cursos y actividades durante el curso), Jobir da Silva de Brasil (Director del Hospital Couto Maia), Geraldo Leite (Presidente y fundador de la Universidad Estadual de Feira de Santana, y el profesor de la Escuela Dirtor Bahía Médica y Salud Pública) y Zilton de Araújo Andrade (Profesor UFBa emérito e investigador de renombre internacional)."Alfredo Ramalho Leahy fue uno de los miembros más activos de la Escuela de Medicina de Bahía y la salud pública, con un trabajo excepcional desde el primer año de la fundación. Él fue mi ayudante en la cátedra Propedêutica y Clínica Quirúrgica, en sustitución de mí debido a mi jubilación, también fue jefe del Departamento de Cirugía (Jesuino Netto, obra citada).

Fue director del Hospital de Santa Isabel, Santa Casa de Misericordia de Bahia, donde ocupó varias posiciones y dirigido varios servicios, entre ellos el director y fundador del Instituto del Corazón de la Bahía.

Born in the city of Penedo, Alagoas, February 28, 1925.In 1945, he joined the Faculty of Medicine of Bahia, for which he was graduated in Medicine on December 14, 1950, having as classmates Arudy Costa Penna, Carlos José de Souza Alves, Geilza Batinga Clavier, Jorge Fernando Pereira Studart José dos Santos Pereira Filho, Maria de Lourdes Rocha Santos Burgos, Vital Vital Sarmento Ferreira (Faculty of Federal University of Bahia), Geraldo Rocha (Student Prize laureate Prof. Manoel Vitorino Pereira, for having achieved the highest overall average in the courses and activities during the course), Jobir da Silva of Brazil (Director of Hospital Couto Maia), Geraldo Leite (President and founder of the State University of Feira de Santana, and Professor of the School Dirtor Bahian Medical and Public Health) and Zilton de Araújo Andrade (Professor Emeritus UFBa and researcher of international renown)."Alfredo Ramalho Leahy was one of the most active members of the School of Bahian Medical and Public Health, with outstanding work from the first year of the foundation. He was my assistant at the chair Propedêutica and Surgical Clinic, replacing me because of my retirement, been also head of the Department of Surgery (Jesuino Netto, work cited).He was director of the Hospital Santa Izabel, Santa Casa de Misericordia da Bahia, where he held various positions and directed several services, including the director and founder of the Heart Institute of Bahia. In that institution was a pioneer in operations with extracorporeal circulation in our state.Professional high on Bahian society, earned the affection and gratitude of his students and colleagues, being honored by several groups of students and set out for them by placing a plate of praise in the classroom of Bahia School of Medicine and Health Public.He died in 2001 at the age of 76.

En esa institución fue pionera en las operaciones con circulación extracorpórea en nuestro estado.alta en la sociedad bahiana profesional, se ganó el afecto y la gratitud de sus alumnos y colegas, siendo honrado por varios grupos de estudiantes y se dirigió a ellos mediante la colocación de una placa de alabanza en el aula de Bahía Escuela de Medicina y Salud Pública.Murió en 2001 a la edad de 76 años.
