Born in Salvador, in 1847.
Pasted the degree in Medicine, em1869, Faculdade de Medicina da Bahia.
His doctoral thesis was about Asthma.
They were classmates: Antonio Augusto Barbosa de Oliveira, Arsenio de Souza Marques, Augusto Bittencourt Freire Maia, Joaquim Pereira dos Santos Gennaro, José Pinto da Silva, Porfirio Jose de Mello Mattos, Luiz Carvalhal Terence Pires da Costa and Paulino Chastinet. Augusto Bittencourt Freire Maia became professor of the Faculty and memoirist. The others participated, as medical students, the Health Corps of the Army, the Paraguayan War (2).
