Born in Salvador, in 1809 and died at sea in 1857.
Pasted the degree of Doctor of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine of Paris, em1834.
His doctoral thesis was about "Essai sur l'Influence des aliments et des boissons sur Le moral de l'home."

In the Faculty of Medicine of Bahia, was a substitute for Lens Section of Sciences Subsidiary in 1835 and lens, by tender of Medical Chemistry and Elementary Principles of Mineralogy, 1839 to 1857, the year of his death.
In 1954, he published "Psychological Investigations", the oldest book of psychology in the Americas. Written and published in Salvador, is a historical gem: work in two volumes, with 428 pages of text was edited twenty-nine years before Wundt Willelm install his laboratory in Leipzig (Germany) and thirty-six years before William James published his famous book on the habit, the brain functions, the current of thought, perception of time, space and reality.
Ferreira France, in his work, deals with the phenomena of consciousness, the intellectual faculties, instincts and will. There in his work, a constant concern with the influence of environment on man.
In 1848 he was elected to the General Assembly, and deputy remained until 1851.
Reelected, did not take possession, because they find sick.
"Bright Spirit, from the time academic, professor of recognized medical and philosophical culture, political real merits, Dr. Ferreira was still a French parliamentary elite. He was the son of the eminent Professor Antonio Ferreira France, and brother of French Professor Antonio Ferreira Filho, Faculty of Medicine of Rio de Janeiro (3).
He died in 1857 while gathering trip to Europe, and his body thrown into the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
