Born in Cuiabá, in June 18, 1885, and his father Dr.Augusto Novis, noted medical Armada Nacional, seconded to serve in the capital of Mato Grosso.
Arrived in Bahia in 1901, with 16 years of age, joining the same year, the Faculty of Medicine.
Pasted the degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1907, after a brilliant stroke. Student was awarded and received as a prize, a study trip to Europe.
They were classmates: Anthony Ignacio de Menezes, Durvaltércio Bolivar Andrade, José Olympio da Silva and Pedro Augusto Mello.
José Olympio da Silva was Professor and Director of the School. Pedro Augusto de Mello was the introducer of civil identification in the State of Bahia, and in his honor, the state government created the Instituto Pedro Melo. Durvaltercio Aguiar was professor of FAMED (4).

In 1911, after an excellent contest, won became professor of Physiology. In 1917 he was Professor of Physiology and replacement two years later, professor of that discipline.
"Professor of the word clear and fluent, his classes had the fascination of the current exposure and bright, which covered the doctrine of the verb with the galas inspired and sparkling, trapping students in the fabric of his oratory, without in any way undermine the perfect transmission of knowledge, which thus became more clear and compelling "(2).
He was president of the Medical Society of the Hospitals of Bahia, director of the Medical School and hospitals Moreira and Santa Izabel.
Founding member of the Institute of History of Medicine Bahiano, corresponding member of the National Academy of Medicine, Director of Health and Secretary of Education and Health
It was, for several reasons, one of the most important medical Bahia.
Died in Salvador on April 30, 1953.
