=============

JOSÉ ADEODATO DE SOUZA FILHO

After a brilliant contest, won the chair of Obstetrics, School of UFBa.
The first steps did not disappoint the unbelievers. Adeodato created at the outset, the "Service Delivery to Living"
Initiative bright, especially in the manner in which it was implemented. It was necessary to moderate the so-called "hospitalism rampant," of that era, which began to destroy the old "family doctor", the "medicine at home" or "home care", now well accepted by most developed countries.
Jose Adeodato was also a pioneer in issues of family planning and human reproduction. These issues were virtually unknown in Bahia until the 50's when he had at his side Elsimar Coutinho, brought to Arpad Csapo Salvador investigator of the Rockefeller Institute, the name of international prestige. His purpose was to create an institute specialized in human reproduction. This dream came true years later when he founded the CEPARTH Elsimar Coutinho - Centre for Research and Assistance in Human Reproduction.

 "I met Jose Adeodato Filho - Elzimar Coutinho said - in the basement of the former School of Medicine where he was housed at the animal house that served as basic chairs, especially of Physiology and Pharmacology. Newly arrived from the United States, full of plans, and has definitely decided to medical research, Adeodato received in that meeting with the revelation that a clinical professor without being a researcher, research via the great instrument of progress in medicine "(Work cited).
Inspired by the Professor. Jose Silveira, Adeodato Filho fought to let him do the work of his dreams, that is, transform Maternity Climério de Oliveira in a study center. He abandoned his extensive private practice and devoted himself, body and soul, Maternity.
He founded the Centre for Research and Assistance in Human Reproduction and - even after they retire - and it worked for him until death.
Elzimar Coutinho, his collaborator for half a century, says Adeodato Son "was a man of vision who honored the profession of doctor and teacher. Few have done so by medical research in our land. "(Ibid.).
Said Jose Maria de Magalhaes Neto, "Professor Jose Adeodato de Souza Filho, pragmatic intelligence, spirit, enlightening, profound knowledge of the intricacies of Toco gynecology, author of dozens of excellent works of Gynecology and Obstetrics, including four hypotheses and two books, motivational selfless and tireless research about human reproduction in Bahia, there encouraged me and provided great support and decisive in the end of my dream - winning the post of Professor of Obstetrics our ever-glorious School of Medicine, Federal University of Bahia " .
Published over a hundred papers and guided his many students, whose scientific production was, similarly, highly valuable.
Belonged to and honored with his encouragement, several scientific and cultural institutions in Brazil and abroad, in no way disparaging the name of his illustrious ancestor.
