Heon de Jesus Pereira da Rocha was one of Bahia, Piaui born, back in 1930.
In 1954, he graduated in Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Federal University of Bahia.
In the years 1955-1957, he carried out at Cornell University Medical College and Yale University, USA.
Since then, university career began in UFBa: in 1958 he was Teaching Assistant in Clinical Propedêutica in the same year, Doctor of Medical-Surgical Sciences and Associate Professor of Medical Propedêutica, the year immediately, Associate Professor of Clinical Medical workup, in 1960, Professor of Therapeutics and Clinical Freedom, in 1962, Professor of Clinical Therapeutics.
Conquered the chair, returned to the United States, where he completed postdoctoral studies at the School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University, he became Visiting Professor at Cornell University Medical College of Medicine and the Medical College of Pensylvannia.
Returning to the Federal University of Bahia, was Head of the Department of Nephrology and Urology, Chief, Department of Medicine, Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, Dean of Medicine and the Rector.
At 32 years old, became the youngest professor at the university.
During his glittering career, Professor. Heon Rocha has always been considered an excellent teacher, possessing unmatched power of synthesis.
"The Professor. Heon encouraged self-learning, stimulating reading reviews and scientific articles. In the clinic, the visits to the wards and in the discussion of clinical cases Professor Heon always showed quick thinking and based on pathophysiological principles. Their participation was crucial in consolidating the internship programs and medical residency at the University Hospital Professor. Edgard Santos, who coordinated until his deportation to assume the post of Rector of the University of Bahia Fededral ().
Ferando Luiz Macedo Costa, completed the profile of the great master, saying: "Heon Rocha is a generalist, equipped to the clinical applications of those requirements in full. From 1998 to 2002, capping 22 years of administrative life in the most important sectors of UFBa, Professor. Heon Rocha took the Regents of the University, a position he held with responsibility, strength of character and foresight.
He died in 2005 at 75 years of age, thus completing one of the most exciting college curricula of Bahia.
