Born in Santo Amaro City, Bahia, in 1856.
Pasted the degree of Doctor of Medicine on December 16, 1882, the Faculty of Medicine of Bahia, when he defended a thesis on "What is the action of quinine sulfate in intermittent fevers?".
In 1888 won by tender the post of coach of the Laboratory of Experimental Physiology, and remained so until 1911.
In 1911 he was appointed Professor of Physiology extraordinary effective as a result of Education Reform, a post he held until 1915.
In 1915 he became Professor of Physiology and replacement in 1916, took over as Professor of the same discipline.
In 1919, Professor Emeritus now.
In public life, was elected to the Constituent State and State Senator, in various legislatures.
Sá Oliveira says that Prof.. Dantas Biao was "a rare political leader of repute, medical humanitarian, a great and progressive farmer in the town of Alagoinhas, where he played with true public spirit, the duties of Councillor, Council President and Mayor" (2).
