JOÃO TILEMONT FONTES
Born in Abbey, in the state of Bahia.
Pasted the degree of Doctor of Medicine degree in 1881 from the Faculty of Medicine of Bahia. "When he defended the thesis entitled "A high temperature of ailments. "
In 1886 he was appointed Deputy Medical Clinic Lens.
In 1888, he ran for chair of Medical Pathology, with a thesis entitled "Pathology of arterio-sclerosis. "
On October 8, 1890, took over the chair of the Psychiatric Clinic, under Benjamin Constant Reformation, and remained so until 1907 when - for reasons of his death - was replaced by Prof.. Luiz de Carvalho Pinto (1).
In 1886 he was commissioned by the President of the Province of Bahia to quell an unidentified epidemic in Serrinha.
In 1903-1904, he wrote the Historical Memory of the Faculty of Medicine of Bahia, which remains unpublished.
Oliveira Sá says: "Early on, Dr. Tilemont Sources revealed an uncommon intelligence and deep love for science, becoming later, therefore, a physician and a strong culture renowned teacher" (2).
He continues: "Having succeeded in the chair of the Psychiatric Clinic first holder, Professor. Augustus F. Maia Bittencourt, struggled to achieve a comprehensive reform of the Asylum St John of God, according to its enormous responsibilities, however, did not achieve the results that were expected by poverty and the importance of a cause as just and in which both fought As documents of the time praying "(ibid.).
He died in 1907.
