Born in Salvador, in the year 1804.
Pasted the degree of Doctor of Medicine and Surgery, University of Coimbra in 1827.
On July 24, 1833 was appointed chair of the lens of Medicinal Chemistry and Elementary Principles of Mineralogy.
In 1837, with the retirement of Dr. Antonio Ferreira France, Dr. Ataliba was transferred to the chair of Internal Pathology, where he remained until 1853 (year of death) when he was succeeded by Dr. Alexandre José de Queiroz.
Health Ombudsman was of the Port, Chairman of the Board of Public Instruction, and Alderman the Mayor, Deputy Provincial Chairperson of the Public Hygiene of the Province of Bahia, Knight of the Order of Christ and Officer of the Order of the Rose.
Says Sá Oliveira, in his Historical Memory, "Dr. Aragon Ataliba, by the glow of intelligence and great oratorical skills, was one of the professors of that achieved the most renown" (3).
