He was born in Cachoeira, Bahia, in 1873 and pasted the degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1895, the Faculty of Medicine of Bahia.
They were classmates, and others, Egas Moniz Barreto de Aragão João Américo Garcez and Froes, who became distinguished professors.
Jose Adeodato de Souza was Chief of the provisional military ward at the Faculty of Medicine, during the war of Tizi; preparer, by tender of Medical-Surgical Anatomy, 1896 to 1902.
From 1902 to 1911, substitute teacher, by tender of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
In 1907 he visited Europe on a journey of improvement, at which time he attended the best services of Gynecology of the Old World.
In 1911, with the unfolding of the chair, now Professor of Clinical Gynecology, and remained so until 1925.
In 1925, under the Reform Rocha Vaz, was in readiness.
Over fifty scientific works of great value, were published by Prof.. Jose Adeodato de Souza, most of them in the Gazeta Médica da Bahia in Brazil and Medical, as well as in the magazine Gynécologie et obstétrique, and other foreign journals.
Are his books "Propedêutica Gynecology" and "Lessons Emenologia Clinic."
He was proprietor of the Academy of Medicine of Bahia and numerous scientific and cultural institutions in Brazil and abroad.
For all purposes, Prof. Adeodato is considered the initiator, in Bahia, the gynecologic specialty, which was acclaimed as one of its greatest masters.
Besides being a great doctor, it was Prof. Adeodato humanist, writer, polemicist and extremely generous citizen.
