Born in 1924 in Salvador, and his parents Francisco Peixoto de Magalhaes Neto and Helena Celestino Maglhães.
Carried out the preparatory studies at the College of Bahia, where he was a contemporary colleague and friend Humberto Castro Lima.
He enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine of Bahia in 1943 and she was graduated in December 1948.
Milton Silveira Geraldo said: "In the scientific field has reached the threshold achieved by few. Through brilliant competitions, Pofessor became Full Professor and Professor of Obstetrics. To reach this position, he published some forty works of the highest importance, for example, "Contribution to the Study of Hemocoagulação in Normal pregnancy and childbirth," the subject of his thesis at University Federal of Bahia "(2) .
And: "Contribution to the Study of Hemocoagulação in pregnancy and puerperium Normal" was the first and most complete work on the subject of Brazil, quoted necessarily the best international publications "(ibid.).
He was director of the School of Medicine, Federal University of Bahia from 1984 to 1988 and director of the Maternity Climério de Oliveira from 1984 to 1991.
He delivered lectures, taught classes and participated in conferences in various states of the Federation and countries of the Americas and Europe.
Participated in examination boards in competitions for professors of medicine at various universities.
Professor Emeritus, Faculty of Medicine, Federal University of Bahia and the Bahia School of Medicine and Public Health (of which was Professor of Obstetrics).
Toward Motherhood Climério de Oliveira made excellent management, making it "the most comprehensive public obstetric center of Bahia" (2).
As director of the School of Medicine UFBa promoted several improvements, created the "Memorial of Medicine" and fought for the restoration of the birthplace of medicine vestusto homeland (3).
He was Secretary of Health of Bahia for two terms in succession.
He died in his hometown in 2002.
