Pasted degree of Doctor of Medicine on December 27, 1913, the Faculty of Medicine of Bahia.
They were classmates: Alvaro Campos de Carvalho, Alvaro Pontes Bahia, Antonio Pereira Arthur France, Antonio Joaquim Lopes, John Cezário de Andrade, Machado de Araújo Odilon. Alvaro Campos de Carvalho was a student laureate. Odilon Machado de Araujo, Minister of Education and Health (1981). The others, professors of the Faculty (2).
From 1910 to 1913 and Internal Psychiatric Clinic and Nerve Diseases.
Soon after the completion of medical school, became Assistant Professor, remaining so until 1917.
In 1915, he held a contest for free teaching Neurology, with the thesis "The side of stroke survivors are."
In 1917, became a substitute teacher, by tender of Neurology, ruling in as interim chair until 1924.
From 1925 until 1942, assumed the chair of Clinical Neuriátrica.
In the years 1924 and 1925, conducted a study trip to Europe.
In 1937, he was Director-General effective from the Department of Public Health of Bahia, where he held numerous positions and the brightest lent collaboration and fruitful.
Sá Oliveira says that Prof.. Alfredo Brito Couto the "was distinguished professor and follower of his father, the great master Alfredo Thome de Brito, since devoted his life to the service of medicine and society, albeit without winning many laurels" (1).
