AFRICAN MYTHOLOGY
YEMANJA AND HER BABY
*
"Iemanjá owns rare beauty
And as such, capricious woman and extravagant appetites.
He once left his abode in the depths of the sea
and came ashore in search of the pleasure of the flesh.
She found a handsome young fisherman
and took him to his bed of liquid love.
Their bodies met all the delights of meeting
But the fisherman was just a human
and drowned in the arms of his mistress.
When morning came, Iemanjá returned the body to shore.
And so it is always, every night,
Iemanjá who becomes fascinated with the fishermen
coming out in their boats and rafts to work.
It takes the one to the bottom of the sea, and would it be possessed
and then bring it back, lifeless, to the sand. "
