Born in Inhambupe the November 8, 1900, and his parents Peter Faustino de Souza Mendes Ponde Ponde and Vitalina.
In the first few letters Inhambupe studied with the renowned Professor Mosque. Completing primary school in his hometown, where his father held the post of Judge, moved to Salvador, where he completed his preparatory studies at their own expense, initially employed by a commercial firm, then a reporter and an official of the Posts and Telegraphs.
Completed preparatory studies, he enrolled at the Faculty of Medicine of Bahia, where he graduated in 1925.
Initially, he kept the clinic and in the cities of Taperoá Itaquara.
In 1929, he was invited by Professor Alfredo Brito, to be Assistant Neurology, School of Medicine.
In 1935, did call for Teacher-free. In 1943 he became Associate Professor in the same discipline. In 1949 he was interim professor and in 1950, after a procurement brightest School, won the chair.
Since then, he dedicated himself, body and soul, to the clinic and the chair, demonstrating at every opportunity, excellent predicates.
He published numerous works, among which we highlight: "Treatment of polyneuritis," Lumbar Myelitis, "" About a case of disease Bayle, "" On the treatment of Sydenham's chorea, "" lymphocytic meningitis of schistosomiasis "," Spinal cord schistosomiasis "and many others.
Loureiro de Souza says: "At the time, however, his scientific activity, there were Edístio Put a lyric and a dreamer. It was also a poet, a poet who has absorbed the science. His legacy, however, numerous sonnets and poems, and epigrams Parnassian flavor clearly full of grace and guile "(1).

Pliny Garcês Sena, his son-and successor to the chair, added: "For two decades, was an eminent professor of neurology and was regarded by his assistants and students, excellent teacher, clear not only in describing the symptoms and signs, as well as careful the art of diagnostic assessment. Its scientific guidelines is necessarily extended to neurosurgery, the pediatric neurology, the electroencephalograph. Died April 30, 1971, after a severe illness.
