Eliezer Audíface Carvalhal Freire was born in Salvador, on May 28, 1911.
Finished high school at the Gymnasium of Bahia which he left in 1929, to submit to the college entrance examination at the Faculty of Medicine of Bahia.
During medical school was built in the Chair of Clinical Pediatrics and Child Hygiene and the League Against Infant Mortality Bahia, both directed by Prof. Martagão Gesteira.
Completed the medical course in 1934, continuing in the same service, which worked in the old Asylum Workers Exposed today called Pupileira.
In 1937, he joined the public service as a Medical Assistant State Department of Child.
Highly competent professional, worked in all the Brazilian Congress of Pediatrics, presiding, including the Executive Committee of the Congress held in Salvador, in the years 1973 and 1985.
In 1954, a nominee of the National Department of Children, conducted the course in Social Pediatrics at the International Center in Paris. By virtue of his performance, was appointed valedictorian of his class.
She chaired the Paediatric Society and the League of Bahia Bahia Alvaro against infant mortality, for several successive terms.
He was Associate Professor and then Professor of Pediatrics, Bahia School of Medicine and Public Health.
He published several scientific papers and attended various institutions of which we highlight the Academy of Medicine of Bahia, the Brazilian Society of Pediatrics and the Institute of History and Geography of Bahia.
Among the accolades and honors, recorded the "Order of Merit of Bahia," the degree of Commander, and the Medal "Thome de Souza," bestowed by the Municipality of Salvador.
Effective editor of the Journal of Pediatrics and Child Care, also wrote in the Proceedings of the Academy of Medicine and the Annals of Bahia Hospital Martagão Gesteira, which was one of the most active contributors.
In the field of pediatrics, her favorite was the Social Pediatrics.
He died in 1991, earning Padre Pereira de Souza, this compliment: "cultivated the Medical Science and Good Literature. I admired Camus, Proust, Guimarães Rosa and Pedro Nava. His contributions to the National and International Congresses were always vigorous and applauded. In Lisbon, Rio de Janeiro, Madrid or Paris, his voice was respected, and admired. His library was wonderful! "
